I fished a small strean near mitta for some tight action . Fish were a mix of browns and rainbows and mostly taken on the dry ...although they liked a #18 007 Nymph .

Best fly was a #16 Wulff....

Herm's Day

I took Bill Hermiston out for a fish today . Bill was a huge driving force for me to take up flyfishing. A true gentleman and the unofficial Lord Mayor of Conargo. Bill Enjoyed the day taking a few good fish up to the 1KG mark. He still wears the vest "Spry'sy" gave him before his passing.

Hidden Stream

Before high water tems and low flows kick in , I fished a small Hidden Stream in teh Victorian High Country . Quite a few fish mostly Rainbows and just 2 browns around the pound to a half mark. Best fly was a small #14 Tungsten BH Hare and copper , Although a few fell to a Light Cahill in sz 12.

Further East the same day I fished on a friends property near Khancoban, There was an amazing Sulpher Dun Hatch that evening . Tally was 6 fish up to 2 1/2 pounds. Great day. BEst fly was a Hendrickson (Light) and a Tungsten Hare and copper in sz #12

Hidden Stream

I Fished an old favourite yesterday, Flows are at late summer Level and the fish are acting that way as well. Best Fly was a #14 Brown Tungsten Nymph producing 11 fish , Best fish were a 3 and 2.5 pound Brown . Most fish were in the 1/2 to Pound mark . The water was cool and the beer I left in the stream was even cooler .

Swampy

I finally snuck away for a little fish in the Swampy . Tally was only 8 fish ranging from 1 lb to 4 lbs . 5 Fish were sightcast and the rest blind nymphing . Flies used were a #12 Royal Stimmulator with a #12 Tungsten H&C Dropper and I swung the odd Green Wool y Bugger for the fun of it with good results.......Had a cigar at the end of the day , a beer and made it home by 4:30 pm .........Duns were just starting as i left ....

Colorado

Traveling North we headed past teh famous San Juan river , Frozen and unfishable and into colorado where it began to snow ..It did not stop until we hit Wyoming and Jackson hole.

Grand Canyon

How big ...bloody big . This place is a must see and has been on my list of places to see at least one in a lifetime. There is no railing just a simple sign showing that the cliffs can be dangerous . There is a sheer drop of most edges at least a mile below so watch that first step. And boy was this place cold .

Vegas

On the way through Las Vegas we just had to stop at a casino. The City is a myriad of lights and sounds with a price on anything and everything. Straight through aftere spendin the Night at PAris complete with Eifle tower. A Highlight was visiting a Bass Pro shop ...Wow half a day later and I did not want to leave .....It had its own Casino , Rifle range and flowing stream complete with trout and Bass.

Abel Factory Visit

While traveling through the states we stopped in at the Abel Reel factory on the way through from the California coast to Las Vegas ...small detour but worth the effort. Pictured is Jeff Patterson Sales manager at Abel. While there we managed to meet with Steve and Gina Abel and were privileged to get a behind the scenes tour of the factory. All reels and components are made in the Camarillo (pronounced Cam-a-ree-oh!) factory and have a steady employee base many have been there from the beginning.
